I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Information Science in Multimedia in South Africa and I am currently residing in Vancouver, pursuing a diploma in animation which I will graduate in August of 2019. I started as a freelancer while I was studying in South Africa and worked on developing Wordpress sites for clients. In 2016 I built a webapp for the tutoring company that I worked for using a LAMP stack, which served the purpose of keeping track of the student’s homework and tutor reviews. In 2017 I worked for an online startup clothing store called Sevara and I developed their eCommerce store using Woocommerce. In 2018 I worked as a developer/design intern at a Pretoria based company called Karbon Black. This was my first experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and I was a part of the whole production pipeline, from design to deployment. I collaborated with senior developers on several projects using github. For these projects, I was responsible for developing a responsive front-end based on an approved psd, communicating with the client during our development sprints, performing QA testing and logging issues, content updates and deployment. On a few projects, I designed the UX and UI that were sent to clients for approval. I also developed email campaigns and newsletters, and animated motion graphics for Ricoh South Africa (Pty) Ltd on a monthly basis as part of their retainer with Karbon Black. My biggest achievement with the company was leading a project where I developed an MVP for a client looking to attract investors with his business model. I developed this website using Wordpress, HTML, JQuery and SASS. The client and I worked closely to get the MVP to a place where he was able to secure an investment in his business.
