I am an experienced risk professional with proven record in managing delivery in a matrix environment and engaging with senior stakeholders to embed robust governance and control rigor. Risk Management comes as second nature to me, a skill that I have developed over my 14years in risk management positions within Absa Bank. I have been in the financial services industry for 25years, working in various departments. I started my banking career in the branch in 1993 as a teller, customer services clerk, branch host & personal assistant to Branch manager. I moved to head office in 2005 as Personal Assistant to National Risk & Operations manager. 2006 – 2008 I became a National Risk Consultant for Small Business. 2008 – 2012 I was Operational Risk & Compliance Specialist, and 2IC to Business Risk Officer. 2013 – 2018 I was Risk, Governance & Control Specialist within the Africa Operations area performing risk management duties for various areas. Jan 2019 – Aug 2019 I was appointed as Operational Risk Specialist/Manager within Virtual Channels for Mobile Banking (Digital area). My intimate and practical knowledge of Risk Management has helped me overcome any issue/problem that might occur. I love new challenges and will not stop until it is resolved. My ability to define the problem, investigate the root cause, prioritize the issue, and facilitate a suitable solution has seen me expand rapidly over the years. I was also involved with risk and audit work in the African countries, whereby I gain additional knowledge and ways of work. I interact comfortably with diverse stakeholders (all levels) and strongly believe in good stakeholder management. As the risk landscape changes all the time, I believe that my years within risk management and skills gained as a Risk Specialist I will be of great value to ensure risks are identified properly and controls are operating and managed effectively. I was the risk manager for Digital - Mobile Banking (APP) the last 9 months before I left Absa. I learnt a lot of the technical side of risk management and believe it will be a huge advantage within any company. I’ve obtained a Secretarial & Office Administration diploma at Vaal Triangle Tech. I completed the GIBS Management Program in 2010 (NQF7), as well as various internal banking courses during the years mostly related to Enterprise Risk Management. I want to use my skills, knowledge and expertise to move into a more senior position, and also looking for new challenges.
