I have attained a Bachelor of Science degree with two majors (Chemistry and Biochemistry) at Rhodes University. From this achievement, I have learnt science communication through writing practical reports and have achieved a lot of laboratory skills in both disciplines. I have also done a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Chemistry at Fort-hare University, in which I was doing a project in inorganic nanomaterials for application in drug design and development. I learnt to work in the laboratory independently with minimum help from my supervisor. I am an independent researcher who requires very minimum assistance. However, I am also a good team player with effective communication skills and patience for different people. I have completed my MSc in chemistry with distinction (Summa Cum Laude), where I explored the synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of Fe(II/III) dithiocarbamate complexes and FeS nanocomposites as potential anti-cancer agents. Currently, I am doing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in inorganic materials chemistry, looking at core-shell metal sulfide-microgel hybrid nanofibers, their synthesis, structural studies, and application as drug delivery platforms.
