Awande Duma is a climate justice and sustainable development activist. She is a 2017 Young African Leadership Initiative (Y.A.L.I) Alumni as well as an Unleash Alumni - an international cohort of thought-leaders, innovators, academics who work towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals). After graduating from Monash South Africa, she interned as a Health, Safety and Environment Officer for one of South Africa’s Top Petroleum and Gas Companies. In the last 5 years Awande has worked with a few organisations on issues of social inclusion, education, climate change, waste management and social entrepreneurship. She is passionate about sustainability and environmental issues, with an interest in law & policy, women empowerment, youth and community development and education. Her can do and positive attitude make her a value add to any team and her creative abilities and acute talent for communications and event planning are a bonus.
