My name is Bennie Hancke. I am 42 years old and I have been the regional financial manager of Afrimat of Natal and then Eastern Cape and Free state for the past 13 years from 2007 up to now. Our CEO and CFO offered me a bursary to do my MBA at Stellenbosch and me and my family was transferred to the Eastern Cape region of Afrimat 4 years ago to lead the finance team and specifically focus on cost cutting, improving our BEE rating and streamlining our internal audit procedures. I completed my MBA in 2018 with an average of 70%. When I joined the Afrimat team in 2007 we just listed on the JSE and our share price was R2. Today, through hard work, dedication and excellent people we are proud to have a price of R40 per share. This year I enrolled at Milpark university in order to do my CTA for the opportunity to write my CA exam next year in March. I await my results which is due the 9th of December. I was a part time Councillor during our time in Natal which was my way of giving back to the community for being our family for the ten years during our stay there. I have various newspaper and magazine articles confirming our good work in the area. During my MBA I flew between PE and Cape Town every six weeks and as a hobby I also built a 700 square meter house for my family during that year. I come from a family of hard workers. My father is a Judge in Bloemfontein in the high court and my brother the CFO of Coke in Port Elizabeth. My secret at work is the people I work with – I believe in good and personal relationship skills which has never disappointed me in the last 15 years. My wife is a doctor and currently specializing in obstetrics and gynaecology (gynaecologist) at Dora Nginza Hospital. We have three boys aged 5, 7 and 9. During my MBA studies we built a house in Lovemore Park (please see pictures below)
