Greetings My name is Basetsana Makena, I hold a degree in Development and Management from the North-West University. I am a hard-working, passionate woman who is committed to making a positive difference in society. My majors in University were Public Governance and Sociology which amongst many other things have equipped me with project planning and management skills, human resource management, a good understanding of society and a thorough comprehension of how people work both as groups and individuals. I believe this knowledge and these skills will be essential in any organisation. I have served as the General Secretary of the Anglican Students’ Federation (ASF), an organisation that operates in six countries in Southern Africa (Lesotho, Mozambique, Angola, Eswatini, Namibia and South Africa). Education, leadership and outreach are central to the work of this organisation and we bring together students from tertiary institutions in all these regions to achieve our goals. This role has exposed me to the various needs of different communities. It has taught me to be critical, strategic, analytical and creative in my thinking as there is rarely a ‘one size fits all’ solution to challenges that different people face and it has also shaped the disciplined and organised individual that I am. I have worked under severe pressure while striving for academic excellence which has helped me in my current role as president of the above-mentioned organisation. I have also worked at Dikena Trading and Projects as an Administrative Assistant and Assistant Manager which has gone further in improving my organisational and administrative skills. I am a strong and capable leader, with a great desire to continue learning and growing in every space I find myself in. I am passionate about people and social development which is why I believe that I will be a great asset to your company.
