I enrolled as a student at Johannesburg College of Art in 1973 where I studied Graphic Design and Illustration till March 1975. In April 19675 I joined JWT Advertising Agency as a Junior Visualiser. In 1976 I left Johannesburg and went to Cape Town where I joined DeV&S Advertising Agency as a Visualiser. By the end of 1976, I was moved to the Illustration Department and worked my way up to become the Head of Illustration. At the end of April 1979, I resigned from DeV&S and returned to Johannesburg to start my career as a freelance illustrator. I was soon employed at ADAM (Advertising Design & Art Market), until the end of 1979. I then shared office space with Pentagraph Design Studio and was later fully employed as an illustrator and graphic designer. After Pentagraph I co-founded Pinpoint Graphics, broke away and founded my own company Boss Graphics which then joined forces with Trilogy International Design. I was then persuaded to join Trademark Design Company as a Senior Designer, Creative Director and Manager of the South African office. Once again I wanted to have my own company, resigned at the end of 1993 from Trademark and co-founded G’echo Design Studio. In July 1997, I was rather seriously injured in a motor car accident and it took time for me to fortunately recover and have been operating as Lighthouse Creative until the present.
