Dear Sir/ Madame I am a Bachelors in Science (Honors) Microbiology graduate from the University of Pretoria. I am a down to earth individual with a dedicated “never give up” attitude. I am interested in enhancing my qualities as a microbiologist branching into food quality control and my current goal is to conclude my Master’s degree in Microbiology. In my current occupation as a Master's in Microbiology student, I was tasked with isolating the food borne pathogens L. monocytogenes, Campylobacter spp. and Salmonella spp from various foods. The food from which isolation was done was inclusive of vegetables, meats, dairy products and ready to eat foods. Culture based and molecular techniques were employed for identification. I also investigated the antagonistic properties of different probiotics against L. monocytogenes in vitro. I also have basic level knowledge on bioinformatics gained during my Bachelors (Honours) in Microbiology studies.
