After completing my degree in Fashion Design from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, I headed to the Mother City to pursue my career in the fashion industry. I started out as a fashion intern at Marie Claire Magazine and after 9 months of internship, stepped into a permanent role as Fashion Assistant for Cosmopolitan Magazine SA (part of Associated Media Publishing). From print and publishing, I then made the transition into the retail side of the industry, where I worked as a Buyer’s Assistant in the footwear department at http://www.******.***. At the time, the footwear department generated the largest revenue for the company and as a whole, http://www.******.*** was expanding at a very fast rate, thus, exposing me to the highly competitive, demanding and fast-growing nature of the online retail industry. At the end of 2015, I made a complete career shift into the health and fitness industry, when I stepped into the role as General Manager for Switch Playground Cape Town and have been fulfilling this role ever since. Switch Playground is a boutique fitness centre with studios located in Cape Town, Johannesburg and New York City. Over the last 3 and a half years, I has undertaken an increasingly growing list of responsibilities as the General Manager for Switch Playground, which in turn, has helped me develop strong and exceptional: Business management skills; Team management skills; Operations management skills; Administration skills; Client service & people skills; And it has given me first-hand experience as to what is required to successfully run a business.
