My name is Busisiwe Thelma Gumede, I am a passionate and self-driven 28 year old South African black female. I am currently doing my Masters in science degree in the field of Zoology under the Department of Biology at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU), formerly known as the Medical University of Southern Africa (MEDUNSA). My research speciality is in the field of Plant chemistry, which mostly deals with finding bioactivities of different plants (indigenous or invasive) that can aid in resource and health management. I have experience in using biochemical technology, such as biocharacterization processes including but not limited to TLC, HPLC, GC-MS. I have also done plant toxicology in both animal and human cell lines. I have developed great communication skills in the course of my academic career, and I can adapt very easily to new situations or environment. I am quick to learn and can work under pressure to produce results. I am very comfortable with working in a team. I am a self-motivated and self-disciplined individual, who strives to manage their time wisely. The nature of my degrees (BSc general and BSc (Hons) Zoology) has prepared me for a professional life setting, as it involved a great deal of independent research, requiring innovativeness, self-motivation and a wide range of problem solving skills. I am able to take on the responsibility of this position immediately, and have the enthusiasm and determination to ensure that I make a success of it. I also work well in a team, as I believe two brains are better than one. I believe that I can contribute greatly to your company and that I will fit well as a staff member of your company.
