I joined the South African Air Force on the 17 January 1989 and qualified myself that same year on the 08 December 1989 as a Regimental Instructor (PTI) at the Air Force Gymnasium. I was then transferred to a Security Squadron in Langebaanweg where I worked in Protection Services as a Protection Services Instructor overseeing discipline, training and career development of Protection Services personnel. Later, in my career I took a corps transfer to the South African Medical Health Services with an operational unit known as 7 Medical Battalion Group where I was trained as an Ops Medic and Paratrooper. My skills set was in emergency medicine, aviation medicine, diving medicine, pharmacy systems and was also trained as a Chemical and Biological Warfare Instructor on an advisory level. My last promotional course was the Warrant Officer Management Course and my main tasks entailed operational duties with South African Special Forces Units and The South African Police Services Task Force. I also attempted the South African Special Forces Selection; however, I passed the physical part but was not allowed to complete the Special Forces Cycle. In total I spent more than thirteen and a half years in the South African Department of Defense. For the past sixteen years I have been working on and off in the Middle East, South East Asia, Africa and Afghanistan as a Security Emergency Medical Technician/Personal Security Detail Medic/Remote Medic and as a Security Consultant. My skill set is in Emergency Medical Services and Mobile and Static Security Protection. I am a registered Ambulance Emergency Assistant/Emergency Medical Technician (ILS) with The Health Professions Council of South Africa and as a Grade A Security Officer/Cash in Transit Officer/Close Protection Officer/Response Security Officer registered with The Private Security Industry Regulating Authority of South Africa (PSIRA) and I have been back in South Africa since the COVID-19 pandemic.
