During my first year of studying, I gained copious amounts of knowledge surrounding microeconomics and macroeconomics giving me a board and sound idea of what this degree and future employment position entails. I branched into Quantitative Economics in my second year, as it was an area that really fascinated me and would allow me to further my studies into BCom Honours in Econometrics. My third year allowed me to grasp the essence of Quantitative Economics and Econometrics on a higher, more analytical level. I appreciate Quantitative economics and Econometrics as it allows one to apply mathematic equations to real world economic problems and get a desired solution. This excites me as I have a passion for solving problems and analyzing data in order to generate solutions for economic problems. I am currently studying Honors in Econometrics. I am a focused and determined individual; finishing off with 9 out of 10 distinctions in my first year of studying and 8 out of 10 distinctions in my second year of studying; ending as the top 2 academic student for Econometrics in 2018. This is evident in my attached CV. I qualified in BCom Economics and Econometric with distinction in 2019 and will be graduating on the 13 May 2020 at UJ. Through these different levels of achievements, it has allowed me to grow and learn different leaderships skills and apply myself to different situations. In the process it also allowed me to be introduced to new and highly qualified people in which I have learnt a lot from. I believe economists are essential in modern South Africa as our economy is in shambles and many individuals require assistance in surviving such a volatile economic climate. I believe I will be able to assist a client with any problem they may have moving forward as I am aware of international economic trends and relations as well as how international economic movements and the interest rates affect the South African economic state. My understanding of trading has also allowed me to understand the intertwining of international economic trends and the affects that international problems, such as the Corona virus, may have on the economy and I am able to assist in working out the optimal solution to survive such turbulent economic environments. What fascinates me in particular is the fact that social and political aspects of every country affects the economy in one way or another. Therefore, I am constantly keeping up to date with current affairs in order to be aware of the socio-economic impacts issues such as the Corona virus and warfare in Iraq may impact the economic situation world-wide. In fact, I have personally seen the fast-paced changes such situations may have on the economy and stocks through international trading on the stock markets wit. Therefore, I am very in tune with the skills acquired from my degree and utilize it on a daily basis over and above merely tests which is a reason I believe I will be a valuable asset and perfect candidate for the position as I engage with this work on a daily basis and my brain has programmed itself to think in a way that can clearly see trends and other important movements in the economy. Furthermore, this has equipped me to predict any future movements that may occur which provides me with the experience to advise clients optimally. Vacation work will equip me in furthering this skill I have developed through my degree and other endeavors. I have also engaged in part-time work which assisted me in applying myself when in different situations, learning skills, encountering new people and overcoming different obstacles. I believe I will be a valuable asset to the company as I bring a high-energy to the work environment. My perseverance and dedication will stand me in good stead. I am reliable and determined. I am a passionate, hard-working and diligent pupil. I strive for excellence. When I fail, I do not let it discourage me. I persevere until I get it right. My positivity towards every aspect of my life drives me to succeed to not only make my peers, family and teachers proud but myself proud. I am highly self-driven and self-motivated, which provides me with strength to carry out tasks to the best of my ability as I pride myself on my work ethic and efficiency. My weakness is that I am often too hard on myself, but I have been working on being kinder to myself. I am not afraid to identify a weakness but persevere until I turn that weakness into a strength. My aim is to gain as much experience as I possibly can to equip me thoroughly in the work environment. I know that I will be able to fulfill any duty set out to me. My objective is to qualify for the graduation programme and through that, further develop my practical skills by utilizing the knowledge I gained through my degree and am gaining through my Honours degree in econometrics in the real world in order to better equip me. I am aiming to qualify for a position of Economics for 2021 full-time employment. I enjoy utilizing the knowledge I have gained, analyzing situations Analysis and putting into practice what I learn. Experiencing the skills I have acquired during my degree in the practical sense excites me and as a result, I know I will add value to any work environment. As I have worked with customers and clients through promotions with Epson and uber driving, my people-skills and communication is impeccable. I am able to communicate with customers in a clear and professional manner, engaging with them and enticing them to buy products etc. will stand me in good stead for future interactions with customers. I carry myself in a professional and confident manner. I know how to handle every situation in terms of dealing with customer problems etc. which will assist me in future when handling clients in the firm as well as putting my efforts into analytical thinking and problem-solving. My hard work and determination is impeccable. In conjunction with my CV where you will find proof of my commitment and achievements, I feel I will be a quality candidate for the position as I would be able to apply my Quantitative and Economics skill to enhance and inform strategic decisions in the firms.
