I have been employed in FMCG/Pharmaceutical Supply Chain for 30 years. I Started my tenure in Engineering in 1990, through to first line manufacturing management in 1996. I progressed through the ranks of management and leadership over a period of 14 years. For the past ten years I managed the entire supply chain as a General manager both in RSA and in Sub Saharan Africa, responsible for a staff compliment of ~500 of which 25% are project management, professional staff, and line management. I managed the following disciplines directly and indirectly: • Plant financial performance, budgeting, and forecasts within Baan/ Oracle Software, weekly forecasts with monthly/quarterly and annual reports • Procurement – Raw Material and Packaging budget of ~R500Million • Buying of materials and non-production spend items – 1200+ items • Planning operations and supply chain – 128 SKU’s, with daily performance review and updated planning through prioritizing bottlenecks and removing obstacles • Costing of processes/systems and materials to arrive at final product transfer cost • Production function in multiple SKU’s with daily progress meetings with multifunctional senior site team • Engineering processes with TPM, planned and progressive maintenance • Project management in new product and process development with improved processes, Management reporting, support and measuring systems, Best Operating Practices, and Lean manufacturing principles to improve output/yields and reduce waste, apply IRR to projects • Managing budgets, CAPEX of R50 million to R75 Million and OPEX of ~R220 Million • Quality assurance in a regulated GMP environment with SOP’s guiding all actions • Quality control, Raw materials, Intermediates, IPC’s, Packaging, Finished Product and Microbiology • Warehousing, Inbound, and outbound logistics with daily shipments – Stockholding of ~R150 Million, applying FIFO and reduction in obsolescence through active run outs and usage projects, projections of financial impact on product rebranding and end dating • Supply chain management from R&D through to final product delivery with the interaction and collaboration of all parties concerned - Finance, R&D, Central Procurement, Marketing, Sales and Regulatory parties to deliver product valued at ~R1 Billion per annum. • HR/IR Management with a team of 4 HR officials – Staff Recruitment through outcomes-based interviewing, Training and Development, Staff performance management contracts, IR managed through monthly Union and Management Meetings, Site level agreements negotiated • SHE and Security management through active employee engagement and best operating practices including biological monitoring through a fully equipped occupational health clinic • Manufacturing contract and contractor management, CMO management with Legal review • Supplier and Customer visits I have an engineering qualification, business, and leadership qualifications – completed a PGDip in Business Administration and am completing an MBA which is at dissertation stage.
