I hold a four year bachelor of sciences (BSc) degree in Environmental and Resource Studies completed in 2017 at the University of Limpopo. During my undergraduate studies I majored in Geography and Environmental Management. I was exposed to various environmental management processes and legislations, including the National Environmental Management Act No. 107 of 1998 (NEMA). During my final level I conducted a GIS and Remote Sensing research project titled: Remote sensing of ecosystem productivity using Leaf Area Index as a proxy for forage quantity and quality in different conservation areas in the north-eastern part of South Africa. Early 2018 I started participating in a Youth Environmental Service (YES) Programme offered by Delta Environmental and sponsored by Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA). The Pretoria National Zoological Gardens was the host institution for the project. My duties and responsibilities in the YES programme included the following: coordination of environmental education and awareness campaigns, waste management (waste picking, sorting and disposal) and general nursery maintenance, including eradication of weeds. I am currently employed as an intern at the Department of Science and Technology (DST). I am placed in the Space Science and Technology (SST) directorate where I am responsible for research assistance and administration ( i.e. coordination of meetings, workshops and reporting) on SST Projects, with priority on the National Space Programme (NSP). Through research and support, I have actively participated in the National Space Programme Economic Case which was conducted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). I further attended various short courses for my personal development, including Introduction to Earth Observation and Project Management Principles and Practices. The Introduction to Earth Observation short course offers basic principles and techniques fundamental to remote sensing. It has enhanced my understanding in the electromagnetic spectrum, digital data, image resolution, satellite systems, pre-processing techniques and image classification. The Project Management Principles and Practices short course offered me basic principles and practices of project management.
