I am 25 years old and completed the degree of BA Communication in 2015 and Honours in Tourism Management in 2016. I recently completed my Masters in Tourism Management at North-West University and graduated in May 2019. During 2016 and 2017 I was also employed as a part-time academic and research assistant and in July 2017 I was appointed as a part-time/temporary lecturer in the Tourism Programme, Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences and TREES (Tourism Research in Economic Environment and Society), North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus), South Africa. As an academic assistant and research assistant, I gained vast knowledge about the academic and research environment as well as practical experience on project management and the facilitation of field trips. As a part-time lecturer I’ve learned how to lecture and manage large classes (340 - 400 students) as well as the setting and marking of tests and papers and performed various administrative duties. I am proficient in using eFundi and other online learning and Screencasting tools to enhance student’s learning experience. I was also responsible for the coordination and alignment of the first year modules TMBP 111 (Introduction to tourism management) and TMBP 121 (Hospitality management) across two of the three North-West University (NWU) campuses namely Potchefstroom Campus and Mahikeng campus. This year I also presented the module TMBP 322 (Events Management) on third-year level at the same institution. In addition, I also have experience in the study guidance of postgraduate students on an honours level. With regards to research, I have experienced both quantitative and qualitative research (designing of questionnaires, data collection, data analysis, writing research reports). I have completed various service training workshops in the compiling of examination papers, using of e-fundi, learning essentials of online learning, collaborating with online docs, assessment in Higher Education, introduction to screen casting tools, creating info graphics in the classroom, designing effective multi choice questions and how to create rubrics in assessment. I also completed the induction for academics course at NWU which taught me a lot about Higher Education learning. I can communicate very well in both English and Afrikaans. I am proficient in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Excel, SPSS, PowerPoint, Prezi, PowToon, Adobe Spark, eMaze and Voki. I can be described as a friendly, positive, spontaneous, enthusiastic and self-motivated person. In addition, co-workers would highlight my strengths as amongst others as having good problem-solving skills, high integrity, being accountable, hard-working, loyal, and trustworthy as well as being a good team player who knows how to handle conflict.
