For the past 17 years, I have been working with professional legal employees ranging from Candidate Attorneys to Senior Litigators. I am Master Graduate from Wits and as part of my Human Resources function; I am responsible for the Organisational and Employee Development portfolio, practicing in the scope of the full Human Capital Management value chain. In my space as a Master Human Resources Practitioner (MHRP-SABPP), I have achieved the following in the current year: a) Responsible for steering the organisation towards its twelfth year as a Top Employer (Global People Practice Benchmarking) and six years as a leading organisation in the public sector category. b) Developed and executing leadership development programme focusing on business priority conversations. (From Executive Management to entry-level staff). Priority conversation ensuring all employees are informed of the content and actions linking to the organisational business priorities, enabling employees to deliver on the organisational mandate and Sustainability Outcomes. c) Facilitated Business Partnering workshops and Business Partnering skills development for the nine provinces. Developed the Business Partnering Service Level Agreement together with the bi-annual monitoring tool. d) Development and implemented (Board approved) a Legal Aid SA’s Legal Competency Framework to ensure the development of the relevant competencies and stretching organisational capabilities. It is unique in the sense that it was developed using the Balance Score Card methodology. e) I have also developed and implement Performance Conversation (Technology driven) that forms the core driver to the 9 box Performance / Potential matrix, adding tremendous value to the Talent Management process. The Performance Conversation prepares the individual and the manager for their formal performance appraisals and allow for effective succession planning interventions. f) Develop and implement the Culture Fit Assessment tool together with the functional assessments for Candidate Attorneys and entry level District Court Legal Practitioners. g) Developed, Administered and Analysed the following surveys: Leaders Heat Map Legal Skills Audit Flexible Work Arrangements: Assessment for Review Organisational wide Culture Fits Assessment Employee Competency Based Risk Assessment, within a matrix environment National Omnibus Engagement Survey 360 Assessment These services have contributed to the maturity of the human resources function and was over the period entrenched as culture of practice to sustain excellence of performance in the Legal Aid SA’s HR function I have 43 years of Human Resources experience ranging from being a wage clerk to developing and driving the HR Talent Management Strategy and HR Business Plan in line with the organisation’s Business Plan. Armed with a strong knowledge of the core Human Capital value chain disciplines, I am able to implement and leverage these within a complex business environment. With a strong and contemporary knowledge of Learning and Development, Performance Management, Talent Management (Inc. career development, organisational design and development, succession planning, business partnering and monitoring SLA), I am able to create “functional integration” via competency driven solutions. I am confident and have the ability to adopt leading Human Capital practices and work with Executive and Senior management to implement within the organisation To this end, I have developed excellent organisation and leadership skills, business acumen and have the ability to deal with ambiguity, in meeting demanding deadlines and managing projects. I have just completed the Labour Dispute Resolution Programme at the Wits Law School. This programme is accredited by Wits University and sanctioned by the CCMA and the Bargaining Councils.
