I have a rich CV with a wide range of experience from people management and process planning as a chef to GMP and ISO standardisation as a product development chemist. In both industries I have worked to tight deadlines under high stress. As a result I remain composed under pressure and try to impart that to my colleagues. I believe that I am very technically minded and able to master new processes and principals very quickly. I have good root cause analysis skills and subsequent creative problem solving. Linked to this, I believe in following instructions to the letter as I believe that it must have previously been done correctly (and I don’t like repeating something unnecessarily) and only then looking at optimisations. At my previous employer I was involved with drawing up standard operation procedures as well as ensuring compliance with a number of standard practices for safety and quality management, including ISO 9001 / 22716:2007, GMP, GLP and 6S. As a product development chemist I was directly involved with the transfer of information from the lab to manufacturing for each new product. This includes various pilot batched and product stability assessment. In all aspect of product development and production, quality management and control is paramount. QC/QA information forms part of the product information file and this is coordinated with manufacturing and production teams. I believe that I am effective at communicating a point, principal, protocol or result either verbally or written. In completing my MSc, I have experience in heterologous expression and co-expression as well as plasmid design and assessment. I also have experience with FPLC and HPLC for fractionation, purification and activity assessment; Circular Dichroism assessment of protein structure and stability and a number of enzyme activity assays that I miniaturised. An applications driven approach appeals to me and my solutions focused mentality will fit well with this approach. I work well with everyone, and I believe that people are deserving of respect and I expect the same courtesy in return.
