I am a hard working individual with enthusiasm in whatever I do especially when it comes to the laboratory. I have acquired a BSc degree in chemistry from the University of North West, and in 2016 I enrolled for an honors degree in chemistry. Since graduating I have gained work experience as a laboratory assistant at North West University Mafikeng campus, chemistry and applied mathematics department to further enhance my technical skills and gain some laboratory experience. North West University, chemical laboratory is an academic centric institution responsible for the facilitation of undergraduate students to perform their experiments in the afternoons. It has been a wonderful experience working within this academic sector and very productive team and I have enjoyed assisting the laboratory manager, particularly when analysing the samples obtained by the students using analytical instruments such as UV-Vis, GC-MS, HPLC, ICP-OES, XRD, XRF, including small instruments such as pH meters, weighing balances etc. At NWU I was responsible for sample preparations, cleaning, calibrating the laboratory equipment’s and ordering chemicals and glassware when required under the supervision of the principle laboratory technician. I have quickly become a valued member of the team and receive compliments for my attention to detail, work ethic, time management and being able to work under-pressure. I am very proficient in using MS Office programs (word, Excel, and power-point), utilisation of LIMS (laboratory information systems) and I have excellent report writing skills. I work well as a member of a team, but I am also confident in assuming responsibility for tasks autonomously. Through presentations, and team working, I have gained excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to solve problems and handle challenging situations. I believe that with my long track record of success I will be able to please my employer and work hard enough to elevate the standard of the company.
