As a post-graduate research student with a 3 years’ experience in the Molecular Biology Laboratory, I have gained solid research knowledge and experience. Through my experience, I have gained exposure to day-to-day laboratory operations including performing both biochemical and molecular techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, Gel electrophoresis, Biofilm-formation and Antimicrobial susceptibility testing. I have also gained the ability in maintaining biohazard and radiation safety standards, ensuring proper handling and disposal of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents. My academic credentials include a BSc degree in Environmental and Biological Sciences, Honours BSc in Microbiology and an in-progress Master’s BSc in Biology, which I expect to complete this year. The following achievements demonstrate my qualification for this position: • I have excellent oral and written communication skills. • I am a detail oriented person and have the much-required analytical skills to interpret data accurately. • I am well skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email) and various programs such as Thermal cycler and Gel analysis software. • I enjoy imparting knowledge as much as acquiring it; I have spent my time in the University assisting/supervising under-graduate students with their research projects. • I am a team person and collaborate with teammates to maximize productivity. My keen knowledge of molecular biology testing – as well as my ability to effectively perform laboratory operations - will translate into both dedication and diligence. Given any experience or opportunity, I will delightfully accept it and pledge to do my very best in exceeding your required expectations of me.
