Qualifications: BA Hons (UCT and UNISA), BA Sp Hons (UZ), HDE (PG) Sec (UCT) I am an experienced and knowledgeable copy editor, materials developer and proofreader, coming from an education and non-profit background. I spent 30 years in the classroom and in school management, as an English teacher and independent school principal. After leaving teaching, I spent 10 years in the education NPO world, focusing specifically on teacher development and the integration of ICT into teaching and learning, building my reputation as an Open Educational Resources (OER) advocate with a wide personal network of influential thought leaders. Currently, I consult to Nolwazi, a uniquely South African platform curating OERs for South African schools, and am also a partner in ASCA, an organisation specialising in affordable school readiness and academic assessments for primary and secondary schools. My editing and learning materials development work runs under the ProofExcellence label. My strengths are my depth of understanding of English as a language, a proven ability to adapt materials for differing audiences, a focus on readability and 'plain language', and an unwavering attention to detail. I am able to tackle a wide range of texts and materials, and I am always keen to research new subjects. One of my specialities is the quality assurance of e-learning course content, which allows me to combine my years of teaching experience with my knowledge of the digital world. I have developed hard copy and digital content for the following purposes: school leadership and management, EFAL learning materials, ICT leadership and change management, IQMS in-service training, data-based decision making, domain name services, school marketing, and sports training. I have designed and implemented learning programmes in the following areas: integration of Grade 8 learners from disparate, under-resourced backgrounds into secondary school, tutoring for rapid reading and English language development, and school-based leisure-time activities. I have completed numerous projects adapting a variety of materials for digital delivery including topics, such as: NGO resource centre courseware, governance training, entrepreneurship, school leadership, contract law, health, business studies, and teacher mentorship. I have extended my skills to the quality assurance of digital content, focusing almost exclusively on e-learning, for South African and international clients. Subjects have included the 4th Industrial Revolution, e-learning design, financial literacy, mentorship, corporate onboarding and in-service training, numeracy, language literacy, and regulatory compliance. My editing and proofreading experience includes (among many other items): NPC/NPO annual reports, conference proceedings and minutes, mapping and integration of institutional teaching and learning materials, and academic and research papers. Projects completed this year • Quality assurance and update of a raft of independent school policies and procedures • Integration of OER materials into the DBE Cloud Current projects: • Quality assurance of a wide variety of online digital programmes for an international e-learning developer • Development of learning materials related to knowledge management and the production of knowledge products in Africa, for a European funder
