Having been raised by a parent who was a teacher I have spent a great deal of my youth in the pursuit of knowledge, having to date obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce specialising in Accounting and Financial Management, as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Besides these qualifications I have also spent 6 years pursuing a qualification is Islamic Theology and have obtained many accredited certificate courses specific to my field of work which include Train the Trainer, Skills Development Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator. My very first employment opportunity came in the form of teaching high school children after school in Islamic Theology and thereafter I initiated and then headed the Entrepreneurship Department for an NGO called SANZAF. The key aspect of my job description was the facilitating of a skills development course called General Business Practices and which was aimed at adults within impoverished communities wishing to start their own businesses. Having spent 12 years in this field I decided to move on and seek further growth opportunities in the education sector which led me to my current position as Lecturer at Damelin College. It was here that I was exposed to the Higher Education System and among my main responsibilities were the lecturing, preparing of class notes, preparing of assessments as well as the conducting and moderating of these assessments in various subjects such as: • Financial Accounting 1 and 2 (for Degree students) • Financial Management (for Diploma and Degree students) • Investment Management (for Degree students) • Compliance Auditing (for Degree students) • Quantitative Techniques (Statistics – for Degree students) • Business Literacy (for ICB students) • Managerial Accounting (for Degree students) • Risk and Financial Management Techniques (for Degree students) • Business Management (2nd Year for Degree students) I currently lecture part-time at Harley Reed for their international qualification called BA2 Fundamentals of Financial Accounting . I lectured across the spectrum of diploma, certificate and degree students ranging from the first year until the final year.
