Let the change agent with an ear...hear. Whether through strategies, capabilities, presentations, media, productions, conferences, articles, PMO Teams or other channels, I was born to communicate to my generation and to the generations that follow. The ages trade in transition, and they never stop. Organisations reach the pinnacle of what they define as success, to the degree that they are able to transition people to where their purpose and imagination desire them to be. This purpose is what defines an organisation’s Change Management Capability as the heart and soul of a transcendent entity as opposed to a deliverable driven limb of a redundant entity, the latter will not survive the era of change and transformation this age has thrust upon us. The Strategic Change Management Office (SCMO) is the enabling force designed to merge business strategy with actualisation of what that strategy imagines. All whilst navigating the complexities of the resistance human beings, internal and external to the organisation, incline to when faced with the transition proposed by the change. If we think 10 years ahead, we are already behind. Whether transitioning the industry, the consumer, organisations, executive leadership, internal or external stakeholders, the Strategic Change Management Office (SCMO) should strategise and deploy with the understanding that we are, in essence, transitioning a generation into a new dispensation no matter what industry we operate in. It is the mandate of the time we live in. This position is the platform from which the SCMO can optimally contribute to the business as a whole, and to the people who will inherit what we do now in the time to come. And contribute it should, in stratospheric fashion. My approach to enhancing the Change Management Capability is informed by 12 years change management experience among other initiatives leading the change capability responsible for industry wide reform in the banking sector, as well as consulting on the design and deployment of the Change Capability in one of South Africa’s most well-known organisations. This approach will consider the following among others: • Innovation: Hybrid methodologies & tools in strategy and execution that produce relevant solutions. • Optimization: Teams, Budgets, Input vs Output, managing the capability as the business unit it is. • Consolidation: Leveraging and elevating existing business position, relationships, reputation to launch into the next level. • Creation: Solutions and operations driven by relevance and industry leading output as opposed to just ticking boxes with no real impact. • Validation: Enhancement of standards and credibility through compliance to business requirements.
