Jyri Hamalainen’s IT career began with a love for technology, at the pivotal crossover point of the mainstream Internet, commencing with custom silicon ASIC design in telecoms switching, and for data protection cryptography accelerators. Evolving with a passion for pioneering business ideas and technology, Jyri climbed into the driving seat of product management, deploying products at some of the world’s leading mobile telecom and banking players in Asia, EU and Africa. Jyri has held senior positions at Africa's largest media group - Multichoice (Naspers Group) as CTO for Mobile Telecoms, as MTN 's Group Centre of Excellence SIM technical lead in Africa's largest telco, as Product Head of Prism Payments, and other director roles. His entrepreneurial forays began in 2016, by conceiving and directing from scratch, the establishment of South Africa’s first dedicated and custom built video content delivery network (CDN) and video PaaS. In parallel, pursuant to his insatiable appetite for solving challenges that enable businesses create and turnaround products into profitability, Jyri applies himself to tailor-made venture building and management consulting. His career embodies creating products as apps, compute, storage, networks, and security in the hybrid cloud, software, and hardware space. He has led and inspired technology teams for business outcomes based delivery, and understands the importance of the lifeblood of sales, driving pipelines, and how to sell tech hardware, software or cloud products. Jyri is experienced in how to offer clients product and value aligned to requirements and the right price/cost positions. He is well experienced in also presenting to investors, writing proposals, research, and technology documentation. He understands the importance of client relationships, especially with C-Level leaders, managers and investors. Jyri is hands on and outcomes focussed, and believes in the tech and business truth. He is cross culturally globalised, and has successfully managed and worked with multi-cultural and cross-functional teams and customers, across multiple countries.
