Kurt Egelhof is a drama graduate that has been involved in the SA creative industry for 40 years. He expanded his repertoire from acting, to directing to writing and producing, in that order. Combing these skills, he presented as a writer/producer/director when he created a 26-episode children’s series – Tales From The Fireside - in 1996, and never looked back. During his career he has won three awards, each in a separate discipline – the highlight of his career being serving as the Head Creative at Endemol SA for 2 years, followed by long stints in various capacities on Isidingo, Backstage, Scandal and Generations – all very successful daily drama soaps in SA, before deciding to quit the office politics of Production, to train Youth At Risk in the art of film making, production and writing, and revive his love for acting. He recently spent a year at sea on a cruise ship, as the TV director, until covid shut down that industry, and the world. At 61 years old, he is always the ‘youngest’ person in the room, who, by his own admission, is “Too Clever For His Own Good”. (The title of his unreleased album of some 15 songs written between the ages of 19 and 59)
