My name is Kyra O’Connor. I just finished working at On Show Solutions as an Event Coordinator to source and negotiate venues for the companies International Roadshows in the UK, Southern Europe, Russia, Africa, North America, Mitteleuropa, Southeast Asia, Australia and the Nordics. I also assisted in organising the events and dealing with International Hosted Buyers for the Magical Kenya Travel Expo that occurs once a year. In my previous company called Dragonfly Africa, I used to work in events planning for overseas inbound-clients, planning trips/events in Africa. This has made me an extremely detail orientated individual who tries to ensure that whatever event I am running, it is executed as close to perfect as possible. It was a Destination Management company, and my role was to arrange everything for our International Incentives groups ranging from 20 to over a 1000 people. This involves transfers, accommodation, venues, meals, events, flights, room gifts, tours, entertainment, conferences and much more. I personally dealt directly with the budgets and the suppliers as well. My personality is bubbly, friendly and persistent, which also helps in this industry as it is important to try build good quality connections with the right people. Through this I have learnt an important skill on how to get good service and execution from suppliers. I am wanting to do freelance Event planning work or working permanently for a companies In-House Events division for their employees or clients, as this is where I really feel my heart lies and is more my strength. I really want to express my originality, high quality and creativity in order to make a customised experience for your employees or clients or for individuals who need an expert Event planner. I believe that by dealing with both large and small groups, as well as very demanding client’s puts me in good stead for this line of work.
