I served a Senior Manager in the HR Department of the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, where I managed various HR functions for the University. I was required to retire at age 60 and therefore was retired end of 2018. The University however, extended my contract until end of April 2019. Currently I am employed as a part-time lecturer at the University. I also worked in manufacturing (the motor car industry) and while working at the University, I had the privilege to collaborate and work with various companies regarding HR issues. My management responsibilities were Organisation Development/ HR Development and Employment Equity. I also managed the Employee Relations department for several years, including the managing of the University’s CCMA and Labour Court cases. I formed part of the management negotiation team that negotiated conditions of service and wages. I also had experience of being the Executive Director of HR for a period when the emcumbant was on leave or away. HR knowledge and experience gained throughout my career include talent management, succession planning, performance management, employee relations, negotiations, values and acculturation exercises, compensation & benefits, organisational design (where my industrial engineering training is used to good effect) , change management, transformation and training and development. I led a process to improve labour relations by holding workshops and establishing dispute resolutions mechanisms and policies. I hold a Master’s degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources, a BA Honours degree, A National Diploma in Work Study and a Higher Diploma in Production Management. I am enthusiastic, energized, willing and knowledgeable, while believing no one ever stops learning. I am extremely eager to take on a new challenge, given the opportunity. Appointing me will be cost effective given my ability to make a substantial contribution to the company. The HR department must be a business partner and contribute directly to ensuring the business achieves its vision and objectives. This is what I would pursue. Given the opportunity, I will be able to make a real positive difference within a short period, which will be felt for years to come. Your consideration of my application is appreciated.
