I am a diverse Procurement Professional with experience in Direct and Indirect Procurement. My passion for procurement comes from the ability to formulate a view on specific commodities and their performance in industry. I then use this information strategically during negotiations and subsequently generate significant savings while ensuring that quality and performance are not compromised. One of my greatest passions is to develop ad-hoc savings strategies for end markets in the toughest economies like Angola, Zimbabwe, CDI, Burkina Faso etc. I began my career in the Oil and Gas industry as a graduate trainee at PetroSA (Supply Chain-Procurement). Through hard work and determination, I quickly got recognition as a top graduate trainee during my deployment in the Capital Projects team. In this role I made a significant contribution in putting together stringent procurement controls which led to reduction in wasteful expenditure for Project Ikhwezi. I also had the opportunity to source Chemicals and Catalysts for the PetroSA plant. The amount of exposure and recognition I received in my time at PetroSA paved the way for an employment opportunity at British American Tobacco through a headhunting process. I came into British American Tobacco as a Regional Sourcing Manager, conducting strategic sourcing activities for Southern African Area (SAA), East Central Africa (ECA) and West African Area (WAA) regions. In this role I quickly attracted attention with the results I delivered in some key high spend projects, bringing over GBP 120mil in savings for the company. Some of the big projects I am proud of which yielded some excellent results are; the Zambia Factory Construction project, BATSA Manned Guarding project, Nigeria PMD Ventilation Optimization Project to name a few. Due to the complexity and spend base of these project I was afforded the opportunity to engage at Executive Level to ensure adequate support for successful delivery. In my time at BAT, I delivered over and above the expectations, executing to completion 72 projects spanning across 95% of BAT Indirect Spend Categories (Fleet, Logistics, Engineering, Utilities, Production, Facilities, Marketing, OSS (non- valuated material), Travel, & Professional Services. My contribution has in turn earned me a Global Diamond Award recognition and also for me to be considered as a High Performing (HiPo) individual with the potential for fast-tracked upward career mobility and a promotion to Senior Sourcing Manager within a short period of 2 years in the organization. Due to the urgent personal circumstance I had to leave Cape Town and move to Johannesburg which meant leaving BAT to join Pernod Ricard as the Category Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa. In this role I am given cart blanch with the main mandate of developing from scratch the Procurement Department for Sub Saharan Africa which excludes the more established South African Market. With the amount of experience and exposure I therefore believe I would be a perfect fit for your company. My ability to formulate strategies and improve efficiencies in supply chain and procurement would be a natural progression into this specific procurement environment whilst also providing me with the opportunity to further sharpen my skillset.
