I am a keen outdoorsman and have been involved in my local Scout group, from the age of seven, where I am currently an Assistant Troop Scouter. I have been invited back multiple times to staff on a Scout leadership course in order to fulfil a number of roles, such as helping construct and co-ordinate the programme for the 9-day course, as well as be the first aider and safety manager for any incidents that might occur. I achieved my Field Guide Level One through FGASA (Field Guide Association of Southern Africa) through a two month course on the Shamwari Private Game Reserve in 2014. I have also worked in the outdoors as an abseiling guide on Table Mountain and have helped lead and run high school camps and various expeditions. This involved taking charge of groups of up to 30 children where I taught activities such as raft building, teamwork exercises, hiking, sailing and mountain biking. My other interests include climbing and scuba diving. In 2018, as part of my undergraduate course, I spent the year at the Garden Route Botanical Garden as an intern, learning the different management practices implemented within a botanical garden. At times I was made responsible for the running of operations and management of the gardens while the manager was on leave. At the beginning of 2019 I received a merit bursary for my final year of studies.
