I have worked for Continental tyres SA for a total of over 5 years as a mechanical engineering in-service, maintenance planner and reliability engineer. My highlights in the maintenance planner position were creating SAP PM manuals as a key user, establishing maintenance planning processing and creating a maintenance KPI dashboard which was utilised by all levels in the maintenance department. In the reliability position I established a process for internal refurbishment of hydraulic cylinders which resulted in cost saving of up to 70% per cylinder compared to an external service provider. I managed a R2.4 million project which involved replacing two bulk oil tanks, each with a volumetric capacity of approximately 50 metric tonnes. My main role was analysing long term reliability risks, and establishing counter measures to eliminate or minimize the risk to ensure that equipment remains reliability throughout its lifecycle. I also acted as department head in place of HOD by attending business team meetings and being contact between my department and other stakeholders such as production, quality and process engineering.
