I am currently unemployed and seeking employment in a finance/accounting position. I held the position of Company Controller at Evowood (Pty) Limited which was placed in voluntary liquidation in July 2019. During the period August 2019 to October 2019 I was engaged by the liquidators as a consultant to finalise the financial and tax affairs of Evowood (Pty) Limited. I have more than 20 years’ experience in finance and held the following positions: 1. Company Controller at Evowood (Pty) Ltd (Previously Masonite Africa Limited) for the period August 2016 to July 2019 2. Company Secretary at Masonite (Africa) Limited for the period January 2009 to July 2016 3. Technical Manager Finance at Masonite for the period 2005 to 2008 4. Chief Accountant at Masonite for the period 2004 to 2005 5. Accountant at Masonite for the period 1996 to 2003 6. Cost and Management Account at David Whitehead and Sons for the period 1993 to 1996 7. Accounts Clerk/Accounts Controller/Junior Accountant at David Whitehead and Sons during the period 1982 to 1993 In my various positions at both Masonite and Evowood I was responsible for carrying out a wide range of financial processes which essentially covered all areas that would normally be under a Financial/Finance Manager. During the course of my career (mainly in Masonite Africa Ltd), I gained extensive knowledge in preparation of annual financial statements, year-end processes, tax compliance (including preparation of company tax returns and deferred taxation), budgeting/forecasting/product costing and insurance renewals. I was also responsible for monthly management reporting. In my position of Chief Accountant and Accountant, I was accountable for leading a team of 10 and had creditors, fixed asset management; finance/costing reporting to me. As Company Secretary, reporting to the Board of Directors, I was responsible for all company secretarial duties and was also tasked in ensuring compliance with the recommendations as set out in the King Code. In addition to company secretarial duties, I also had the payroll function reporting into me. I have a BCompt degree and skilled in Excel at an advanced level. Both in Evowood and Masonite, the company had developed in-house accounting and MRP software which were very similar to Syspro and Pastel. I am a well organised individual who is focused on producing results and achieving goals. While I am realistic in setting goals, I consistently develop ways to efficiently achieve or exceed these goals. I am a people person and known to be a good listener and a clear communicator when engaging with fellow colleagues. I am a team player and willing to take on new responsibilities. Being a very calm person, I used to working under pressure. With regards to remuneration, my hourly rate is the last rate of pay and am willing to consider pay rates lower than the one disclosed under hourly rate.
