I have spent the past twenty years of my career as a Human Resources Professional working in the Financial Industry for Old Mutual and Absa Bank respectively. During this time I have fulfilled various roles within the fields of Learning and Development, Business Partnering and Organisational Development, the most recent being that of HR Executive Business Partner in Old Mutual Finance (Pty) Ltd, looking after a business of 3 275 employees spread over 365 branches nationally. In this role, my team consisted of 35 HR and 21 L&D Professionals who worked together to deliver our Human Capital Strategy. During this time, I was responsible for the development and implementation of the full Human Capital Strategy which included the full range of HR activities across the employee life cycle. Having joined the business when it was still in the start-up phase, I was tasked with establishing a fully-integrated HR and Learning & Development capability which included Employee (Industrial) Relations and Organisational Development at its core. I resigned from Old Mutual Finance effective 30 September 2018 to go on a well-deserved and long-overdue sabbatical. I re-entered full-time employment in August 2019 when I was appointed as the HR Manager for the US-owned start-up, SubjectWell SA (Pty) Ltd, where I was tasked to set up their HR Function. Having successfully completed this delivery, I resigned at the end of December with my last working day being 31 January 2020. My reason for leaving is two-fold: the position is not sufficiently challenging given my qualifications and experience and in addition, the US working hours have proven to be challenging. I believe that a great part of my quick progression and success in the HR field has been due to my ability to manage stakeholder relationships with managers and employees on all levels. My ability to build relationships, provide counselling, deal with and resolve conflict, advise, support and facilitate has been built over many years in a business partnering capacity. My track record also speaks of my personal involvement in the development of employees on all levels, be it on the individual, group, junior or management levels. I developed and implemented a highly successful Talent Management Programme in my last role. I also implemented an excellent Mentoring Programme which was considered as best-practice by my HR Exec peers in the other Business Units in Old Mutual. In addition, I developed and implemented a world-class Leadership Development Programme in collaboration with TomorrowToday Global. Lastly, I embedded the notion of ongoing development as a core capability across the organization. I have had the privilege to be trained in and to work with various methodologies including, amongst others, Rogerian Facilitation, Appreciative Enquiry, Systems Dynamics Modelling and Group Process Consultation (Tavistock). In addition, I am a qualified Enneagram coach and facilitator, a seasoned mentor and I am accredited as a Prosci Change Management Practitioner and a Barrett Culture Survey Practitioner. In terms of my own formal development, I have achieved a National Diploma in Public Relations (Cape Tech), a B Degree in Psychology (Unisa) and a BComm Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology from The University of Stellenbosch.
