I recently completed my doctoral studies through Stellenbosch University at the Postharvest and Agro-Processing Technologies Division of ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij (Dissertation title: “Development of a gastroretentive anti-diabetic nutraceutical incorporating polyphenol-enriched fractions of Cyclopia genistoides”). Prior to this, I completed my masters’ dissertation (“Green rooibos nutraceutical: optimisation of hot water extraction and spray-drying by quality-by-design methodology”) at the same laboratory. I have accrued a number of skills and valuable practical experience during the course of the aforementioned postgraduate projects, including project management, report writing, high-performance liquid chromatography, adsorbent resin chromatography, spray-drying, experimental design, response surface methodology and statistical data analysis. Additionally, I have presented my research at a number of conferences and seminars, and co-authored various peer-reviewed scientific papers. I have also had the opportunity to supervise and instruct younger students in the specialised skills related to our research activities. I am confident that my current skill set and experience could be successfully applied to a new work milieu.
