Simphiwe is a professionally registered environmental scientist who holds an MSc Degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Simphiwe is currently unemployed and seeking new opportunities within the environmental field. However, she currently volunteers at a Christian organisation as an Administrator. Prior to this, Simphiwe was previously employed as a Sustainability Consultant at Urban Earth where she was actively involved in a range of environmental and sustainability projects as a researcher, project coordinator and technical expert. Simphiwe has experience expertise in project coordination and management, energy efficiency, climate change mitigation and adaptation, greenhouse gas emissions reporting for the waste and transport sector using IPCC guidelines as well local municipalities, monitoring and compliance and air quality management. In addition to this, Simphiwe has gained skills such as research and report writing, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement and management, presentation, strategy development as well as using systems such as Arc and Q GIS, Microsoft office suite, google docs, sheets and slides, google data studio, WordPress, Asana project management software, and Toggle time management software. A few projects she has been involved in at Urban Earth providing research and technical support are: Developing eThekwini’s Climate Action Plan, Development Of Project Proposals On Priority Focus Areas Of Provincial Climate Change Adaptation Interventions, Development of the UNDP ASL Product Database, Developing a website for the Department of Energy’s Appliance Standards and Labelling Project, Energy Efficiency Demand Side (EEDSM) Technical Support to Msunduzi and Dr. Beyers Naude Municipalities, Development of a Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation and Response Plan for uMzinyathi District Municipality, Development of Climate Change Adaptation Training Program for the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, Local Government Climate Change Support Project (Phase 1, 2 & 3).
