I am a 24-year-old African woman named Nondumiso, the grandchild of Madondo. I’m originally from Bulwer a rural area of KwaZulu- Natal. I started my Primary and Secondary education at the same area, at Bulwer Kwamyanama KwaZulu-Natal. I started my Tertiary education at the University of Kwazulu- Natal (PMB) where I obtained my LLB 4 degree in 2016. I am a highly motivated, confident, free spirited and creative individual. I always thrive to learning and experiencing new things in life. My number one motto is to Listen, Learn, apply and achieve. Furthermore, I can produce results and cope under pressure and work to deadlines. In Addition, I’m always willing to work harder and to do more than the best of my abilities. I’m currently, working as a Compliance, Risk and legal officer at AFGRI- GroCapital. I have also worked at Standard bank as a trainee Compliance Officer and as an intern at Mabaso and Partners Attorneys in Pietermaritzburg. I believe that with my experience I qualify for this position. During this time, I gained lots of understanding about the role of being a Compliance officer and what it entails. Among the competencies and skills, I gained while working at Mabaso and Partners and GroCapital are the following: • Being a team player as I was assisting associates and other candidate attorneys in high-profile matters for major private-sector and government clients. • Improved my knowledge of the law, particularly the law of property, commercial law, labour law, deceased estates, family law, and contract law, trademarks to name a few. • Developed my research, drafting and analytical skills; and • strengthened my research, drafting, analytical skills, compliance and awareness of FICA legislation, reporting on Risk and Regulator engagement, Compliance risk management plans, keeping up to date with new and current legislation as conveyed by Group Compliance and Group legal. I strongly believe that my knowledge of the Law, Compliance, Risk and the competencies and skills I acquired during my time at Mabaso and Partners and GroCapital relate well with the position I am currently applying for at your department.
