I have 11 years’ experience in the Property and Facilities management fields and 6 of those years in management. I started at Broll Property Group as a Property Administrator, moved to Edcon to become a Legal Administrator and then became a Junior Operations Manager. I was then hired by Avis to become their Buildings and Facilities Supervisor. After a year I was promoted to Manager: Properties, looking after the entire portfolio of Gauteng, Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga provinces. During my time at Avis Budget, I modernize and centralized the property and facilities portfolios, starting in Gauteng and expanding to the rest of the country. There are 20 branches including the head office, that were operating in silos in Gauteng alone. I brought all these branches under one portfolio and started managing all these properties through my office. I managed the capital budgets, maintenance budgets, cooperate image portfolio, which included signage requirements nationally, specifications, rendering and installations. I negotiated preferential rates with various suppliers for the business and centralized all matters related to properties and facilities which translated to substantial savings. I also increased the maintenance team to meet the demands of the expanding department, which reduced the number of call outs to service providers and reducing costs. The results were that in the 2017/18 financial year, this process saved the business R210 000.00 and in the 2018/19 it saved the business R500 000.00. In the 2019/20 the savings achieved were already at R198 000.00 before the lockdown halted operations. I initiated and implemented business continuity procedures, equipped offsite locations with basic operational equipment and implemented dry runs. This also included risk analysis that the business could be exposed to and mitigate against such. This process also included facilitating energy and water saving strategies and alternatives. I consulted extensively with municipal officials regarding laws and by-laws that the business was not in compliance with and regarding measures to comply with these laws. I enjoy the outdoors, I enjoys sports, I love nature, I travel extensively which has helped me to broaden my perspective on life and respect for people, cultures and nature. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and try and help the broader communities with various non-profit initiatives to improve their lives.
