I’m Ongeziwe Taku, I obtained BSc degree with a Cum Laude (Microbiology and Biochemistry), Honours degree and Master’s degree in Microbiology at the University of Fort Hare. I’m currently pursuing my final year PhD degree in Medical virology at the University of Cape. Within this program my research is focusing on Human papillomavirus prevalence in women in the Eastern Cape, South Africa and evaluation of hpVIR real-time PCR test for HPV detection and cervical cancer screening I have decided to apply for this position because it’s a great opportunity to develop my career and it will help me grow professionally. I am a hardworking and self-driven young lady who is committed to go an extra mile to complete her work. I work independently and as well as functioning well as part of a team. I am confident in my ability to grip new ideas quickly and delight a challenge and skills. My long-term career goal is to continue to learn and grow my specialist skills and abilities, whilst utilising my experience, knowledge and skills. I am equipped with skills on medical microbiology, molecular biology and environmental. I have worked as the Laboratory assistant and Tutor in the Department of biochemistry and Microbiology for about a year where my duty was to prepare cultures and samples, set up equipment, keep laboratory facilities clean and also help students to carry out detailed and clear experiments. Assist students to prepare for their test and practical reports.
