I am a qualified environmental scientist who holds a BSc. (Hydrology) degree, passed environmental management modules and all geographic information systems (GIS) modules that were prescribed by the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) for the degree. In 2006, I worked at the school of bio-resources engineering and environmental hydrology (BEEH) of the UKZN as a research assistant of a hydrology PhD candidate in determining the soil hydraulics at Potshini area in Bergville. There, I conducted experiments/practical investigation activities and prepared written reports on the findings. For the reports I had to go to the library to gather existing or related knowledge to my activities so as to compare with my results and also have a scientific theory on my reports. I further developed and improved my scientific knowledge and its application by being a physics demonstrator and a tutor for the centre for science access (CSA) at the UKZN in 2006 and 2007.
