As a materials science student a large focus of the courses undertaken is placed on materials processing and manufacturing. I have gained knowledge and experience in the processing of polymers, metals, ceramics and composites as well as mechanical testing, microscopy and microstructure characterisation. From my background in chemistry I have gained knowledge in organic synthesis, various spectroscopy techniques and analytical testing. Apart from coursework pertaining to my degree I also attended a course in Communications Studies which would serve me well in a professional capacity. During my studies I developed a keen interest towards environmental sustainability within the science and engineering fields. In my undergraduate degree I undertook courses in environmental studies along with my major courses in chemistry, marine and atmospheric sciences. It is my strong belief that I will be able to contribute not only my skills but learn and develop new skills in an industry environment.
