My name is Mwangu Ruth Kikunga. I am a Medical Laboratory Sciences student from the Tshwane University of Technology, currently studying towards my bachelor’s degree. During my studies, I have been greatly exposed to various practical sessions that helped deepen my passion for this field. I am a hard worker who is eager to learn. I am actively seeking an organization with a diverse and innovative culture that will enable me to do meaningful work, get broad experience and grow professionally. The variety of practical sessions, as mentioned above, have also assisted in giving me insight regarding what is to come in the professional environment. During those sessions, I have learnt a variety of tests such as haemolysin, urinalysis, copper sulphate screening and haematocrit tests among many. Additionally, I have also become competent in ABO & Rh Blood groups identification, creatinine measurement and clearance, haemocytometry and Porthrombin Time. Finally, I was fortunate enough to take part in two field trips at renowned laboratories, notably the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and AMPATH NRL. The time spent at those two locations was highly insightful as I learned a lot about apheresis test, red cell serology, donor testing, esoteric sciences and autolabs.
