Good Day, I have been in the IT industry for 14 years, as a software engineer, technical team lead and solutions architect. Currently I am employed at Standard Bank in their Forex IT Solutions department specializing in JAVA, Web technologies, Blockchain, Native iOS and Android development. I am responsible for technically leading a team of 8 software engineers, 2 testers and 2 business analysts. We are responsible for implementing innovative technologies solutions to power the daily needs of consumers Forex transactions both on internet banking and the mobile app. My daily duties include: providing a bridge between business problems and the solutions which are needed to support them; working closely with business stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives; ensuring compliance with the overall Enterprise Architecture of the organisation in the project delivery; ensuring designed solutions meet with the business requirements, while still focusing on budget constraints, associated risks and timelines for the specific project; taking the role of end-to-end architecture ensuring that all phases of the project complies with the designed solution; producing architectural artifacts, interface contracts with third party integration partners and technical specifications to deliver to the developers to implement. I have worked in different IT domains such as insurance, logistics, banking, document storage, weather systems, retail ticketing, digitization of products and the motor industry. I have experience in all aspects of Software Development from gathering user requirements, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance. I have excellent understanding of the business-technology interface with the ability to align client’s business needs with technology needs. I am skilled in building, mentoring and managing a team in order to achieve the goal of project success and hands on experience in applying the agile framework /methodology combined with ITIL and TOGAF standards to project delivery. I ensure compliance with the overall Enterprise Architecture when designing and scoping business requirements. I am proficient in Research; analytical and problem-solving skills; including experience in problem investigation and resolution in an applications support environment. I have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate effectively with members of the team as well as external stakeholders, third party integration partners and vendors. I have completed a Masters of Engineering degree specializing in software at the University of the Witwatersrand. My thesis was based on the Internet of Things and its application to our daily lives via a Personal Assistant Smart Bot. I am a diligent and smart working student who wishes to further extend my studies into a PhD Degree. Ultimately, I wish to contribute to the IT body of knowledge. I am passionate about the IT industry and contributing to this ever evolving and disruptive IT culture. I most proud of being involved in volunteer work in IT initiatives as such as the University of the Witwatersrand Personal Navigator Challenge which provided the visually impaired and disabled students with technology to easily navigate their way around campus. Therein promoting students with disabilities to further their studies. Another IT initiative that was close to my heart was being involved in the Kent Beck Project from the Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) Hack for a Purpose. This initiative allowed me to work in a development team to research and implement a minimum viable product for health care medicine dispensaries in the rural areas of South Africa. The technology was donated to the government health institution to implement phase 2 of the initiative and provide better health care to rural South Africa. From my work experience, master’s studies and the IT initiatives I have been involved in, I have gained invaluable knowledge on how to conduct field research, conduct surveys, research technologies, innovate solutions, analysis data, gather statistical data and transform it into useful information. It has taught me perseverance and instilled in me determination to find solutions to problems that we, the human race encounter on different scales.
