I studied an Economics Honours degree at the University of Cape Town in 2020. Through fourth- and third-year econometric courses, I have extensively developed my programming and data analysis skills. For my thesis, I modeled a masters-level Autoregressive Distributive Lag (ARDL) model to determine whether differential electricity pricing should be applied to South African industries. While completing my full-time Honours degree, I chose to work in 2 part-time positions concurrently and thus mastered the skill of learning new information at a fast rate (or quick learning as I like to call it). As a consultant to a small-business entrepreneur in the Philippi village, I was tasked with providing innovative and creative solutions to maximize revenue amidst the coronavirus pandemic. At 2U, I worked on the debtors’ team alongside the junior accountants for six months. The weekly and monthly reconciliation deadlines taught me how to work efficiently under pressure and allowed me to develop advanced excel skills through regular financial reporting.
