I will embrace my professional influence and contribution in whatever context or workplace I find myself. This synopsis/motivation is an attempt to paint a picture of my experiences and contributions as an employer, student and decision-maker. It traces a path of my accumulated experience in life and growth over the last few years. It will also outline the contribution I am able to make in both the public sector and private enterprise. The public and private sectors require civil servants to provide snapshots of the financial situations and also to develop strategies to ensure that it is managed correctly through careful consideration of the risks that are present. My academic growth is complemented by my involvement as a SAICA audit clerk over the past one and a half years, which has required me to engage in understanding a diverse array of industries as well as both the qualitative and quantitative factors that drive these businesses and industries including the legal and operational risks they may face. Through experience on various audit engagements it is necessary to understand the client’s environment and industry as if their business is my own, thereby taking going the extra mile in the thoroughness of the tests I perform in the various sections of the audit. Due to the nature of my qualifications and audit experience being numerically and technologically skilled is imperative to the environment I work in, as well as being able to work in a team whilst being able to lead and guide others within the team. Additionally, my experience as an audit clerk has allowed me to plan and organize audits and various engagements and in some cases conduct these engagements solely. These skills and experiences can be easily translated into the asset management environment, which is enhanced by both, my BCom in Financial Accounting (non-CA) and Postgraduate Diploma In Public Sector Accounting, qualifications. Also, my practical experience regarding the week of job shadowing which I undertook at a world-renowned audit firm, PWC, where I was equipped with professional and pervasive skills in the area of accounting and sustainability, played a crucial role in determining where my future career path would take me. Moreover, I committed to a holiday job at MANCOSA Campus in Durban where I was involved in Quality Assurance, which provided the synergy between the real life practical experience and knowledge that I have obtained in my Corporate Governance courses. In addition, I worked as a stylist in a retail store, which helped me gain experience into the sustainability and co-ordination of family businesses. Additionally, I have lectured on a part-time basis at MANCOSA Campus, Claremont, Cape Town. The modules I have lectured are as follows: Taxation 2A, Financial Management 2A and Business Management 1A. Lastly, my experience as an Uber driver/partner is a clear indication of my ability to manage client relationships and my willingness to work extensive hours with no shame of hard work. My ability to conduct and engage myself accordingly in these environments demonstrates my resolve to harness any challenge that I am faced with. If I fail to meet the challenge, I view this as an opportunity to grow in that direction. To conclude, the experience I gained over the past year and a half during my SAICA articles and throughout my studies at UCT, coupled with the real life working proficiencies I have engaged in, is an enabler to transfer my knowledge and competency I had gained over time.
