I have qualified with a BTech Degree in Electrical Power Engineering through the Durban University of Technology (DUT) in November 2019. I am an ECSA registered Candidate Engineering Technologist (ECSA registration number: (***)-***-****). I have distinctions in Power Electronics 4, Project Management, Projects 2, Computer Skills and Industrial Projects 4 and obtained an average of 69% overall. My final Industrial Project thesis was a complete design of a Power Factor Correction system for an industrial plant. After graduating into a pandemic, that dropped the employment rate to new levels, I decided to do private tuition for high school students in Mathematics and Physical Science to earn an income. I am currently working on a training contract as a Junior Electrical Engineer at RWP (Rawlins Wales and Partners) Consulting Engineers doing electrical design in building services and electrical infrastructure. My function as a junior engineer: • Full electrical cost saving designs based on load calculations, voltage drop calculations, selection of circuit breakers, electrical infrastructure and earthing and lightning protection systems to create a SANS compliant design for various construction projects in many areas including, Richards Bay, Ballito, Pinetown, Kwamashu and Hillcrest • Attend site meetings • Develop cost estimates • Develop detailed BOQ’s and tenders based on client specifications and scope of works as well as design generator and UPS back up supply systems • Interior and exterior lighting design using Dialux and Relux software • Snag reports, adjudication reports and fee proposals • Able to connect single phase and 3 phase distribution boards • Understand full project process • Design power factor correction panels I enjoy electrical design projects and being a part of project teams, although my passion lies in solar PV systems and renewable energy. I pride myself on completing tasks timeously, combining my theoretical training and excellent problem-solving skills. I am efficient under pressure and grasp new skills and concepts quickly, making me an asset to any workforce. I am computer literate and competent in AutoCad, Relux and Dialux. My passion and communication skills were the stepping-stones for me becoming a Brand Ambassador for Gateway Theatre of Shopping. Part of my function as ambassador was being a leader and strategically marketing international brands. My greatest assets are my communication skills, affinity for mathematics and physical science, education and training, problem-solving and my work ethic.
