I am someone who has tried to be as versatile as possible and I feel that the skills below exhibit best who I am as a person: Resilience/ Perseverance The intensity, hours and work ethic required for working on a construction site with WBHO left me emotionally exhausted and in physical pain for weeks but it taught me to persevere as each challenge came with rewarding lessons. Good communication Working in my various student leadership roles such as SANBS peer promoter, EBE Head Orientation leader and Clarinus Village Health Representative has highlighted to me that good communication is the bedrock of great leadership and productivity as I would continuously be working with people from various backgrounds and different levels of competency. Effective Leadership and Management After years of the portfolio’s neglect developed a program and annual plan for The Clarinus Village Residence Health portfolio (+600 residences). Efficiently allocated R50 000 within the portfolio to starting a gym restoration project, hand sanitiser program, fitness classes and running club and other smaller projects. Participated in recruiting, selecting and training +300 Orientation leaders within UCT, whose key role would be to welcome and assist first-year students. Also, developed an orientation program for the EBE faculty. Managed the EBE orientation program and scheduled EBE orientation leaders. Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship is a scholarship that requires coordination and cooperation from multiple steak holders such as embassies, UCT finance office, UCT academic staff, flight agents and other staff members within the program in order to achieve the goal of assisting under privileged scholars from across Africa. Fostering harmonious relationships with all these different professionals including the students allows for a cohesive and productive work environment.
