I am a recent graduate at Nelson Mandela University who completed an honours degree in Anthropology. Being a student in this field would assist me in many fields of work because I have the ability to openly engage with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and disciplines. I currently work as an AuPair in Port Elizabeth. Having this experience gives me the ability to communicate openly and effectively which allows me to be clear, confident and approachable. I am able to take responsibility and gain trust because of this. I am extremely punctual which speaks to my professionalism. This has allowed me to be organised while also leaving room for flexibility. It has also allowed me to take initiative, be proactive and a high level of creativity. I am also currently working as an intern for the Human Science Research Council under the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention programme. I am passionate about analysing and studying human behaviour, which is why I strive to understand different human, cultural and societal behaviours which assists me in examining human society and social institutions. I have a few months of training experience as an admin assistant for a director and project manager of an engineering firm. This would be advantageous in this position as it would require admin skills such as good organisational skills, strong communication skills, creative problem-solving skills, multitasking, bookings and travel arrangements, filing, typing and preparing reports, as well as managing appointments and meetings. This has also assisted in my ability to work independently. I have some experience working in events, I was assisting as a casual worker at a local events company here in Port Elizabeth with the planning of and setting up for several events such as weddings, birthday parties and anniversaries. This would be beneficial for this position I am applying for because from this I have gained excellent planning and organisational skills. Skills I have gained in my anthropology degree include my research skills as I have been required to conduct a ton of research throughout my varsity career in the field I am in which requires in-depth research. Other skills I have gained from my Social Sciences honours degree includes analytical skills, critical thinking skills and research skills. I have knowledge of the research methods and processes, specifically, quantitative and qualitative research. Not only that, but I also have the ability to capture and analyse observed behaviour. While conducting my thesis, I gained experience in the collection of data, I conducted a survey (both open-ended and closed-ended), I have experience in conducting interviews and analysing data as well as presenting and producing reports based on my findings. I have worked in various groups, and my leadership skills within those groups have been successful. Furthermore, I work well on individual projects as I am very self-motivated to achieve the goals I set out for myself. This position would be a perfect fit for me because I am currently at the stage where I am ready to get into the workplace, a workplace that I can grow in and learn and gain more skills that will further me in my professional career. I have a valid South African drivers license as well as my own car. I am willing to travel, and relocate if necessary. I am willing to work outside of office hours. I have a clear criminal record. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you if you feel I would be a strong candidate for this or any position in the company.
