From 2017 I worked for a Business Development and Projects management company that focused on assisting SMMEs and government departments/ entities to turnaround their businesses. The main focus of the business is in Project Management for Skills Development projects that are mainly funded by various SETAs. My responsibilities are to advise SETAs and intended beneficiaries, source funding for training programs and organising actual training of the learners and entities. I have led projects that recruited learners, contracted training providers and monitored training programs to ensure that they are implemented successfully. I have worked for R&D (obtained a patent and 4 technical publications) and the only Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) producing plant in SA (i.e. the SADC region) as a Process/ Project Engineer and later Technical Manager. I was responsible for the technical integrity of the plant (technical manager, in charge of 7 engineers) and implementation of OE strategy. In 2011 I moved to be the Senior Area Manager (Production Manager): Chlorine Production plant until 2014. I was responsible for managing all production aspects, i.e. quality, production volumes, safety, legal compliance and people (i.e. about 85 people) management, including attendance and discipline, etc. I spent three weeks in India as part of the team of commissioning engineers for the PVC plant. I was also involved and responsible for ensuring that production technologies are maintained and upgraded as and when required.
