I am an Honors 2015 Social Work graduate from the University of Johannesburg and currently registered with the SACSSP as a qualified Social Worker with a Sexual Offender Clearance Certificate and a Code 10 Driver’s License. I was previously employed at a CYCC Children’s Home as a monitor of children’s admittance, discharge, oversee programs and conducting a community project for one and a half years. I dealt with cases of adoption, re-unification and foster care done in accordance to the legislation. I am currently employed at the Deutshe Internationale Schule in Pretoria as a School Social Worker dealing with all life challenges that affect the children’s achievements academically and a mediator between the learner, teacher and community. I have gained three years of experience as a Qualified Social Worker. My attention was grabbed by your advert for this position because l has always had a zeal for working for the best interest of children, families and the community. Having done my internship programs and gained work experience since December 2015, I have succeeded gaining experience in being a therapeutic trauma counsellor with disabled children, youth and old people, mediator on Victim Offender Conference on Domestic Violence cases, group work facilitator with young offenders on cases of use of Drug and Substance use and rape in accordance to Social Work methodologies. In a nutshell l have conducted counselling sessions with children, admittance procedures, arranging panel meetings, conduct family therapy sessions with couples, conduct home visits, facilitator of panel meetings with CPO Social Workers, take children to hospital and monitoring their medicals with health chronic issues such as HIV/AIDS, TB etc, monitor children’s vaccinations, conduct therapy sessions with CP children, conducting follow-ups of cases and feedback, assisting CPO Social Workers screening parents with adoption cases, compiling monthly stats, supervise Wits Social Work students, running projects for Schools, do written and telephonic referrals, reporting to Department of Social Development and all this in accordance to legislative requirements. All this is based on my personality as l can adjust to different responsibilities, a driven, motivated, compassionate, charismatic, effective communicator, mature young spiritual woman that encompasses various roles including being a teacher, team leader, learner and an advocate. My competence in MS office suit (word, excel, outlook and power point), therapeutic counseling skills, empathy skills, motivational strategies, positive attitude, presenting skills, monitoring the health of children, critical thinking skills and ability to work well with individuals, groups and community members are characteristics that will assist me in becoming a successful social change agent. I strive for being a part of problem solving, a leader, and learner and believe that given an opportunity and with appropriate resources, all people of your community with different challenges are proficient of living better lives through my acquired skills and knowledge.
