This is a quick overview of my career and Experience • I have started my mining career back in 2003 when I received a mining bursary from the then Xstrata group. • After mining for a couple of years I was promoted to a Supervisor roll, and Safety was my main focus. • I then realized that, this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to make a difference in Safety in the Mining industry. • I quickly started following my dream and was appointed as Safety Officer at Boschmans Colliery. This was an Underground operation with its own Plant, for which I was responsible. • I was then intrusted to run the Safety on a project where we had to open a pit to establish access through the High wall. We had to opencast the area through Blasting and loading. I was responsible for all of the contractors and employees assisting us with the project. • After the project was completed, I was moved over to a mini-pit opencast operation where I spent between 3 to 4 years. • Due to difficult circumstances and Conditions at the Underground Operation, I was moved back to the Underground to go and assist. I was then appointed as Chief Safety Officer (Appointment only) • I’m currently still at the Underground Operations, but regularly act as the Tweefontein Safety Superintendent.
