I have a post-graduate degree in English, with focus on Applied Language Studies. I started my academic career in 2015 as a Linguistics tutor, specialising in Socio-linguistics and the ways in which language reflects social realities. Thereafter, I was employed as a teaching assistant for a first-year English studies course, with focus on honing the skills of critical reading, writing and thinking. My classes ranged from analysis of classic Shakespearean poetry to reading films such as The Matrix and Beyoncé's visual album, Lemonade. In the latter half of 2017, I acted as co-lecturer of a first-year English and Cultural Studies module. As of the above date, I have been employed as the Tutorial Coordinator for first-year English and Cultural Studies. I have intermittently worked at my university's writing centre alongside this, providing one-on-one writing tutorials for students across all faculties.
