Brilliant, with experience in basic skills and techniques of attorneys, Vanessa is adept at handling facts and applying legal principles accurately, by researching legal problems and utilising the sources of law efficiently. Vanessa served as a Junior Legal Advisor at Radiant Law, where she was exposed to matters within South African and International Commercial Law. While at Radiant Law Vanessa provided valuable legal support to clients all over the globe. Her work included drafting the following commercial contracts: Assignments, Call off Agreements, Local Country Agreements, Amendments, Variations, International Commercial Letters of Authority and reviewing Carriage Framework Agreements. Moreover, Vanessa was respected by senior colleagues and clients alike for her inquiring mind and diligent service. She was held to such high esteem that she was nominated as the junior leader on the GDPR team Radiant created to address the newly enforced EU regulations among their clientele. Beginning her legal career in Commercial Law aided her with advance and meticulous drafting skills. It taught her to be abreast of legal developments and the art and beauty of freehand drafting. It is the engine that taught her how to interpret client’s request while always being cognisant of the legal ramifications thereof. At Radiant she was taught the Kenneth Adams style of drafting where clarity was the key essential, it prevented ambiguity and promoted understanding for laymen. Vanessa has recently completed her articles of clerkship with Smuts & Co Attorneys; she will be admitted on the 24th May 2019. At Smuts, Vanessa further cultivated her drafting skill set with the creation of both Commercial and Residential Lease Agreements, Ante Nuptial Agreements, Deeds of Transfer, Power of Attorneys, Deeds of Sale, Wills, Redistribution Agreements, Trust Agreements, Resolutions and Amendments. She also developed her litigation experience. It is at Smuts & Co Attorneys that she has been groomed in office procedures and routines, including keeping attorney's books, preparing and rendering bills of cost and accounts, as well as quality client liaison and administration. Moreover, working at Smuts & Co Attorneys developed her Property Law, Administration of Deceased Estates and Trusts Administration. Kindly note that she attended the LSSA Conveyancing course in 2019 and wrote the April 2019 Conveyancing exam and awaits her results therein. Additionally, Vanessa currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Cape Town Candidate Attorneys Association (CTCAA) where she is the Director of Professional Development. As Director of Professional Development, she has had the privilege to lead and participate in many of the Committee’s projects. Her main projects together with her other accomplishments are indicated below. Academically equipped in effective presentation of written legal arguments, negotiation, evidence preparation and court conduct, Vanessa has participated in extensive Property and Commercial case law research, risk management, and contract management and review over the past years. Vanessa is currently developing a legal blog that will serve as an introduction to law for laymen scheduled to launch in 2020. Furthermore, she hopes to pursue her LLM in Commercial and Property Law part time. Vanessa possesses an unimpeachable record of professional conduct, as witnessed by her skilled representation on numerous initiatives and associations throughout her scholastic, tertiary and fledgling professional career.
